NRF was a source of some amazing content and powerful stats. Retail is a critical foundation to our economy and our lives. Arvind Krishna, CEO of IBM, shared this data: “Retail is 31% of GDP and a 4 trillion-dollar industry in the US alone. So retail isn’t going anywhere.”
The feelings of optimism, empathy, and resilience came through strongly throughout the conference. One of my favorite speakers was Steven Williams, CEO of PepsiCo Foods North America. He said, “he believes there is going to be an uprising of goodness.”
Michael responded by saying he agrees, “there is going to be an uprising of goodness around how retailers empower their hourly employees, build diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) into the foundation of their businesses, and accelerate the speed of transformation in order to thrive.”
