We just sent out the sixth edition of Compliance Watch – Legion’s quarterly bulletin about key changes in compliance rules. It includes information and resource links to help you monitor new employment laws and make it easier to manage and maintain compliance.
In this edition, we cover recent and planned updates in Covid-19 vaccine mandates and employee leave laws.
- Covid-19 vaccine mandates: On January 13, 2022, the United States Supreme Court stayed the OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) vaccine mandate, which stated that employers with 100 or more employees require their employees to be vaccinated or produce a negative covid test every week. As a result of the Supreme Court’s stay, employers do not need to comply with this requirement at this time. However, a number of cities and states have passed their own laws regarding vaccinations that are separate from the federal mandate.
- Employee leave laws: As of November 2021, the District of Columbia and New York City employers must provide employees paid leave to get the Covid-19 vaccination and also for recovery from any vaccine side effects.
